What is The UCEED Exam?
UCEED stands for Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design and is an annually conducted entrance exam by IIT Bombay. If qualified, students can be selected for admission in B.Des. courses at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Roorkee, and IIITDM Jabalpur. Many non-IIT institutes also accept UCEED scores for their admissions.

How Can You Get in One of These Premier Institutes?
There are mainly 3 criteria to follow to be eligible for admissions in one of these top B.Des. institutes in 2025:
- Age limit- For students belonging to OPEN/EWS/OBC-NCL, the candidate should have been born on or after October 1, 2000 and for those belonging to SC, ST or PwD, the candidate should have been born on or after October 1, 1995.
- No. of attempts- A student can appear for UCEED for maximum twice number of times, in successive years, and scores of each trial are valid only for that respective year.
- Qualifying examination- You should have appeared for Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2024 or 2025, not any year earlier to that. Students from any of these streams (Science, Commerce, Arts and Humanities) are allowed to appear for this exam.
Eligibility Criteria Based on (10+2) exam:
For those who have cleared Class 12th in 2024-25 only are eligible for UCEED 2025. Below is the (10+2) stream-specific guideline:
- Students with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) in (10+2)- You are eligible to apply in IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Roorkee, IIITDM Jabalpur and other non-IIT institutes listed above.
- Students with PCB/Commerce/Arts & Humanities in (10+2)- You are eligible for IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad and non-IIT institutes listed above.
How to get admission in Non-IIT institutes?
Non-IIT institutes like Institute of Design, Nirma University, accept admissions based on following weightage: 60% UCEED scores and 40% Offline personal and situation-based interview.
Institute of Design, Nirma University provides flexible eligibility criteria. In addition to passing UCEED scores, candidates need only a minimum aggregate score of 50% in their (10+2) qualifying exam. While, those holding a (10+3) Diploma approved by the State Board of Technical Education or any board/university considered equivalent by Nirma University also require a minimum of 50% aggregate marks for admission.
