Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT 2020)
XLRI (Xavier School of Management) formerly known as Xavier Labor Relations Institute is a Jamshedpur based institute and has been formed by the Society of Jesus which conducts XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test) in order to get most appropriate students for management education. More than 150 institutions consider XAT scores for admissions. XAT is only for getting admissions in XLRI and XAT Associate Institutes. Candidates need to apply separately for other institutes besides XLRI.
The registration process for XAT:
- Visit the official website www.xatonline.in and register by filling in the basic details such as Name, D.O.B, E-mail id, country and the mobile number you wish to register with.
- An e-mail and SMS confirmation with XAT ID and Password will be sent to the registered ID’s.
- For all the future communications this confirmation needs to be kept as a reference.
- Kindly note that the XAT ID and password will provide you with an individual username on www.xatonline.in and you will need to keep a track for e-mails from XAT & other related institutes at frequent intervals so you don’t miss on any important update.
Exam Fee:
XAT Registration Fee (Without late fee) – 1700/-
XAT Registration Fee (With late fee) – 2000/-
Eligibility Criteria:
- Candidate needs to have a graduation degree from a recognized institute.
- Those still in the last year can also apply.
- Unlike other management exams, XAT does not have a minimum percentage for application. The student just needs to clear the undergraduate examination.
- Foreigners and NRIs with valid GMAT scores also qualify for admission to XLRI or other associated institutes.
Exam Structure:
In total there are 99 MCQs (Multiple choice questions) to be answered within a time span of 3 hrs. There is a slight change expected in XAT 2020 where the number of questions is expected to rise till 100. XAT 2020 is expected to be a computer-based test. There are 4 sections in the paper. Admit Card for XAT 2020:
Admit card for XAT 2020 has already been released on the official website. Candidate can log in with the ID password and download the admit card. The Admit card has candidate details and the test center details. If there is any discrepancy in the detail’s candidate must immediately report it to XAT exam center Jamshedpur. You also need to review all the details in your Admit Card 2020 XLRI-XAT and keep your documents ready as directed by the XAT card. Keep a note that admits card is the only way for your entrance in the examination hall.
Marking scheme:
- Marks for each question will be 1.
- There is a negative marking of 0.25 for every incorrect answer.
- If there are more than 12 unattempt questions, there will be a negative marking of 0.05 marks.
Preparation tips for XAT examination:
Being one of the toughest entrance examinations one must understand XAT correctly and should know how to prepare for it. The information given above such as the registration process, exam structure, and the marking schemes will be helpful in cracking the XAT examination. Prepare a roadmap to revise the basics of maths and English subjects. One needs to identify their strength and weakness by practicing different types of questions.
