The Karnataka government is set to host a two-day job fair in Bengaluru on February 26th and 27th, aiming to provide employment opportunities for a minimum of 50,000 job seekers. Named Bruhat Udyoga Mela-Yuva Samriddhi Sammelana 2024, the event will take place at Bengaluru’s Palace Ground and will feature over 1,10,000 job openings from more than 600 esteemed companies.
Among the participating companies are industry giants such as Foxconn, Toyota, Wistron, Infosys, Schindler India, HDFC Bank, Biocon, Mahindra Aerospace, Molex India, Maini Precision Products, and the TATA Group, according to officials.
Karnataka’s Skill Development Minister, Sharan Prakash Patil, highlighted the significant number of graduates entering the job market annually, including 9.3 lakh pre-university (PU) students, 62,437 from Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), and 48,153 from polytechnic institutes. Despite this influx, he noted that the unemployment rate stands at 2.4 percent as per the Periodic Labor Force Survey Q3-2024.
Patil emphasized the fair’s role in narrowing the unemployment gap by facilitating connections between Karnataka’s students and various industries. He expressed plans for future initiatives to further alleviate unemployment by organizing similar job fairs.
The Karnataka Skill Development Corporation has launched a new portal specifically for the Bruhat Udyoga Mela to streamline candidate and employer registration processes.
In addition to the vast array of job opportunities available, the government is extending festive offers to job seekers. Sector-specific data provided by the government indicates over 30,000 vacancies for regular employment, with apprenticeship and internship opportunities also available across 83 job positions in the banking, financial services, and insurance sectors. Furthermore, there are 15,587 vacancies across 109 job positions in the manufacturing sector.
Other sectors offering employment opportunities include IT-ITES (9,704 vacancies), electronics (9,210 vacancies), aerospace and aviation (4,121 vacancies), healthcare (4,120 vacancies), and services (2,998 vacancies).
To facilitate access to the job fair, the government is operating free shuttle bus services from key bus stations like Majestic and Shanti Nagar. Moreover, the fair does not impose any registration fees on candidates, ensuring accessibility to all aspiring job seekers.
