Aided by very generous philanthropic contribution of Mr. Ashok Trivedi, Ashoka University launched School of Biosciences on January 25, 2020. The school will focus on research in emerging areas in Biology such as synthetic biology, data science (including applications of artificial intelligence), biodiversity, ecology (including chemical ecology) and evolution as well as innovations in undergraduate and postgraduate Biology education.
The school advisory board members include Nobel laureates Sir Venki Ramakrishnan (President, Royal Society) and Jack W. Szostack (Professor of Genetics, Harvard Medical School), Satyajit Mayor (Director, NCBS), Ron Vale (Vice President, HHMI), James Collins (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and Helen Skaer
