Apple has inaugurated its first official store in Mumbai, India, located in the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) district. The store, one of two outlets Apple plans to open in India, opened its doors on April 18 with Apple CEO Tim Cook present to welcome customers.
The store offers customers the opportunity to explore Apple products and services, as well as free Today at Apple sessions to learn how to make the most of their devices. The space is designed to be one of the most energy-efficient Apple Store locations globally, with the store operationally carbon neutral and running on 100 percent renewable energy with its own dedicated solar array.
Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s senior vice president of Retail, said, “At Apple, our customers are at the center of everything we do, and our teams are excited to celebrate this wonderful moment with them as we open our first retail store in India. Apple BKC is a reflection of Mumbai’s vibrant culture and brings together the best of Apple in a beautiful, welcoming space for connection and community.”
Apple strategically located the store in Mumbai’s bustling BKC financial, arts, and entertainment district, with the expectation of attracting a diverse range of customers. The move marks a significant milestone for Apple in India, where the company has encountered challenges in gaining a foothold. The opening of the store is anticipated to generate excitement among technology enthusiasts in the region, and it could inspire other international brands to invest in the Indian market, thus further enhancing the country’s reputation as a hub for technology and innovation.
Apple will launch a store in Saket, Delhi on 20 April 2023. This marks the second Apple store to open in India, following the launch of the Mumbai store in April 2023. The new store in Saket is expected to provide customers with access to a range of Apple products and services, as well as free Today at Apple sessions to help them get the most out of their devices. With the expansion into India, Apple aims to tap into the country’s growing middle class, which is becoming increasingly interested in technology and consumer electronics.
