All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is a national Advocates level exam to test their ability to practice law as a career in India and is conducted by India Bar Council. AIBE 2020 is the 15th edition. AIBE 2020 is expected to be conducted around the 3rd week of April. This assessment is undertaken to assess the basic knowledge and is intended to set a minimum requirement for admission to the practice of law; it examines the analytical skills of an applicant and recognizes their fundamental knowledge of the law.
AIBE 2020 Eligibility criteria:
In order to apply for AIBE candidates need to fulfill the below-mentioned criteria:
- No age criteria have been defined.
- Under Section 24(1)(f) of the Advocates Act, 1961, applicants must be licensed as advocates with their respective State Bar Council.
- Applicants must obtain an L.L.B. degree from a recognized law college.

AIBE 2020 Exam Pattern:
- AIBE is an offline, open-book exam.
- Questions asked are MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions) type.
- There is a total of 100 questions in the paper.
- The test length is 3.5 hrs.
- Every correct answer gives you 1 mark and there is no negative mark.
AIBE 2020 Application process:
The application forms will be available tentatively from 3rd week of February 2020. Further, let’s know about the application process of AIBE.
- Step 1 – Visit the official website(http://www.allindiabarexamination.com) and fill in the application form. You’ll need to fill in relevant details like name, gender, age, D.O.B., parent names, etc. There is also a need to fill out the details relevant to education certification.
- Step 2 – After filling in the details the next step comes is to upload scanned copy of photograph and signature according to the guidelines.
- Step 3 – Next the applicant needs to select candidate type (Fresh or Repeat student), Category (General/OBC/SC/ST) and mention if they have any disability. Also, select three preferred cities from the list of 44 test cities. Choose the language in which you are going to answer the AIBE question paper.
- Step 4 – Application fees need to be paid in offline mode using SBI bank challan. Candidate needs to visit the nearest SBI branch for at least 24 hrs. after registration to pay the application fee. Fees can also be paid through cash.
- Step 5 – The candidate must revisit and upload the chalan of SBI Bank after 24 hrs. of payment for the application fee and complete information such as journal number, branch code and the date of payment receipt.
- Step 6 – Upon following all the measures above, applicants must download their submitted application form.
Admit Card:
Bar Council of India (BCI) will release the admit card for AIBE 2020 before 10 days of the exam date. Admit card is available online on its official website. Candidates can download the card by login in with their registered ID and password.
Admit card has details such as candidate name, roll number, photograph and signature, and reserved category. Exam date and time along with exam center details are mentioned on the admit card. - One should also take the help of last year’s papers. This will give you a clear view of which type of questions are asked and help you in knowing how much time you take in order to complete the exam paper.
